A few weeks ago, we decided to go to Salamander Lake. Ever since Matt told Jacob about it, he has been DYING to go up there. Here is the lake in all it's glory! More like a gookey green pond but, whatever.

As was promised, there were lots and lots of salamanders there. The first log Jacob turned over, about 5 or 6 salamanders went crawling away. Here is the first lucky one that gets to be carried around for a while.

Katie would not touch them until we were about ready to go. She finally worked up enough brave with dad's help.

We will definitely go up there again. We will also make sure it hasn't rained before we go up. The first time we tried to get up there, the road was slick mud. We almost got stuck and I feared for our lives! Second time, a success!

Sounds like fun. Cute pics. And I love your background. Where'd you find it?
Looks like heaven for kids. I know mine would love to catch countless salamanders and build little "homes" out of mud, rocks and sticks for them. Where is that place anyway? Your kids looked cute holding the little creatures.
I used to love salamanders!! I would have loved that as a kid.
So where is this place anyway? Naomi would LOVE to go catch some!
It's up Payson Canyon about 10-15 minutes past Koholowo's turn off. There is a parking lot off to your right hand side. As soon as you turn into the parking lot, there is a dirt road to the right. You take that (on a dry day) and follow it for about another 10 minutes. It's not marked, you just have to look for a little pond off to the left.
You should have a vehicle with bigger tires too. It's pretty ruddy in some places.
I didn't even know that was up there! Jeremy would have a heyday catching those.
