Boy is it warm here.

For our second Hawaiian excursion, we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. For those who are unaware, the PCC is a place where 6 different islands in the Pacific are represented through dance, music and facts. Double for those who are not aware, it is owned by the Mormon church. Here we all are sitting in front of our hotel.

The PCC didn't open until later in the day and so we moseyed our way up there. We stopped at this guy's shop/home/store. He was AMAZING!! He carves all of his sculptures by hand and doesn't use a sketch on the wood or anything. It is all freehand. His name is Maile (pronounced Mylaiee). I really enjoyed spending time with him and learning about what he does.

I have always thought it was dorky for people to take pictures of plants and landscape with no people in the picture. But to be honest... on this trip, I couldn't resist!! The scenery was so beautiful. So you can I will let you count me among the dorky.... THIS time!

Jeanice and Jessica sitting on a bench waiting for the "parade" at the PCC to start. They had canoe-like apparatus' with a flat surface attached to it so that people from each island could do their island dance. It was fun to watch. One guy fell in the water. I tend to believe it was all part of the act.

This picture was solely for the kids. Let me assure you , they thought it was fantastic.

The handsomest couple in the whole center.

Fire dancers. This was at the final show for the night. It is called, "Ha". It's about a boy who grows up and the different things he goes through. Very cool show. I love fire dancers.

FYI... I also took several videos of the different dances this day which will probably skyrocket my dorkiness. I did it in the name of the kids I swear.

That looks really fun. :) I've taken plenty of those plant and landscape pictures and never thought of myself as dorky. It's nice to be able to remember what you saw. Especially cause we don't have that kind of stuff here.

I'm jealous of your amazing trip! And the way I see it, if you're in Hawaii you can be as big a dork as you want to be. Because YOU'RE IN HAWAII. And that's all that matters.

Well it's not like you are now raised to 'dork' status. I've always known you were a dork. It's okay though, Cathy, because it's just the way you were raised. Let me tell you that 'you are not alone' ... heh heh heh!!!

I'm glad you had such a fun trip. You have some nice stories. And my personal favorite picture is the beautiful girl picking the nose of the native ... very COOL!!!
