Christmas Traditions

We decided that this year, we would start a new tradition of making gingerbread houses with the kids. As you can see, they were very excited with the idea and delved right in. Ashley makes a conglomeration of candy look stunning don't you think?

Jacob really enjoyed making his house. He spent lots of time on it and was very proud with how it turned out. You can't tell he's a perfectionist of sorts that's for sure.

I deem Matt's the most creative of all. Who would have thought that you could make a manger scene that included Baby Jesus? Granted, he's wrapped in licorice rope and his head is the size of a gumpdrop (heh, heh), but I was actually really proud of him for being so creative. The sad thing is only days later, his manger scene took a little different approach. (Look to the picture at the bottom.

I think it's a tad bit scary. I wouldn't like to be that gumdrop head baby only to wake from my peaceful sleep to see two KKK members looking down at me. (Not meant to be racist in any way! That's just what happened to the taffy after it sat a while. Maybe it's showing that Mary and Joseph got saggy skin just like the rest of us will!) lol!!

Those are really cute. I still think it's hilarious that the KKK visited your house. Looks like the kids really had a lot of fun.

That's a fun tradition. I like all the creations. They are very cute.

The kids were sitting here looking at the pictures with me and started asking if we could make some. Maybe we'll have to start that tradition too.

Cool houses! I'm surprised how excellent Jacob's is!!! It does seem a bit perfectionistic.....but that could serve him well later in life (or drive his wife insane- either one, or even both!) I'm just super impressed that you got your kids to sit long enough to make them, I think I need some parenting tips.... And thanks for your comment about the Primary kids in diapers! I'm just waiting for the day when he drops a big smelly bomb in his pants during singing time - it's gonna be awesome!

That sounds like soooo... much fun. I can't believe how big your kids are. What a beautiful family. You are such a great mom.

Janean's family loves making ginger bread houses too. I am all about the graham cracker houses too. When Kimball gets old enough we will make them with him too. I may not wait, because I like to make them.

When we were kids did you ever picture us being this old? LOL
