learning from kiddos

Today I went to the park with Katie and Abbie and met up with a good friend from high school. The kids went off to play while Amanda and I visited. As I am observing Katie, I notice that she, Amanda's daughter (also name Abbie) and another girl have made friends. As I am watching, I notice that the little girl is being quite motherly. She is pushing the little girls on the swings, she is letting them play with her barbie dolls, she is helping them down the slide. Then I notice that it's time to go play on the teeter totter (the donkey one at the park for those of you who know). One child is on one side making the other side too high for Katie to climb on so what does the little girl do? She gets down on her hands and knees and lets Katie climb onto her back and then get on the donkey. Once on, she pushes them up and down until they are done. What a lesson for me!! Am I willing to help others on that level? To be willing to do anything to help another person be happy? What a wonderful thing to see today! I want to be like her.

That's so cute! I've never seen a kid be so kind and helpful like that at the park. It's usually every man for himself. It's nice to witness such moments and be reminded of how we should treat others. Thanks for sharing. :)
