Building day

Today, as is tradition in our family, we built gingerbread/graham cracker houses. I must say first off, don't mind the clutter in the background of the picture. Usually our house is immaculate. Usually, I am very on top of things. Usually, everything is sparkly and clean. Yeah, right. It's pre-Christmas and there were definitely too many things to get done this year.

This tradition was actually kind of a dud this year. We did have a lot of fun but the fun died off quickly. The picture of Jacob is his finished product. I tried and tried to coax him into doing another side of the gingerbread house but he would not be persuaded. Hence, the half a roof and one side done.

Here's Ashley placing her roof candy with great care.

And here is Katie's finished product!! Sad, I know.

The following pictures are examples of what Katie did instead of building her house.

We will continue this tradition next year and see how the kids do. Maybe by then they will have taken up architecture!

That's how kids work, one on the roof, 5 or 6 in the mouth. I'm sure they see it differently than their mom does. WOO HOO! We got to eat a ton of candy AND make houses!! Kids don't strive for perfection so much. It'll be a good memory.

We also made gingerbread houses this year, but had the opposite problem. Nathan put so much candy on his house that you practically couldn't even see the gingerbread. It looked like a war-zone. It is a very fun tradition. I'm sure your kids will improve a little each year (I sure hope mine do).
