A glimpse into a child's mind.

I just had to quickly share what Jacob said to me the other day. As a preface, because we have had a lot of death in our family within the last two years, we have talked a lot in our household about death, the resurrection and when people pass away, you won't see them until the resurrection. So, in Jacob's little mind, he thinks that when he grows up he will forget me because he won't be living with me. On occasion, he has asked if he could live with me forever and we have a little talk about what you do when you grow up. Anyway, yesterday, he came in to me and asked if he could talk to me about something. I told him sure. Then he said, "Mom, when I grow up, can I stay with you and be an Uncle. Because if I don’t do that, I won’t remember you. I will be thinking about my wife, my kids, my friends at work, my scout people. I won’t remember you. So when I’m older, can I just be an Uncle and stay with you?” To avoid further explanation for that day, I told him okay. I'm sure one day, he will understand and he will be itching to get out of the house but for now, it's cute.

That is cute. It is so fun to watch how a childs mind works. Sometimes it is better to leave it as it is for the moment and hope you can explain it better later.
